Jon Taner was born and raised in New Jersey. His earliest studios at the Art Students League in New York City were followed by classes at the Philadelphia College of Art in Pennsylvania. He obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California College of Arts and Crafts (renamed the California College of the Arts) and his Master of Fine Arts from Syracuse University where he was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant. Other training includes workshops with master printmaker Bernard Greenwald in Stottville and Hudson, New York and course work in fine art appraisal at New York University.
Taner has been represented for over 30 years by galleries throughout California, New Jersey, Maine, and Massachusetts. He is in many private and corporate collections including Intercontinental Hotels, Schering Plough, Nabisco, Peckar and Abramson PA, Dragoco, and the former Bergen County Museum of Art. He has most recently exhibited at the Parallax Art Fair In NYC, and had a solo show at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, NJ.
